A first time visitor to the Tyne Dave Hollingworth from the village of Hollingworth near Glossop enjoyed a great day with the fly.

Following a little casting advice from Aidan Pollard , Dave was encouraged to cast at Waters Meet. Very soon Dave was into his first fish, which unfortunately swam free after 6 minutes in play.

Recovering from his early disappointment Dave fished on and was soon rewarded with a hard fighting grilse which he safely landed.

By now it is fair to say, a very enthusiastic angler covered the water, Dave’s first ever sea trout, a fish of 6lbs put up a good show before it was netted.

The day got even better as Dave landed his first ever double figure fish of any species, a salmon of 11lbs.

The following day fishing near Hexham, Dave landed another salmon again weighing 11lbs.

Five fish in play in a 2 day visit to the Tyne with 4 landed is a good return by any standard, the fish were all hooked on a FW Black Dart, a fly which is becoming a very consistent taker of fish.

Dave was initially the client of Reeltime and supported by Gavin Todd.
